The River Of Hope
This year, I’ve participated in the Imagine Cup Game Design competition for the first time. My entry, a Windows Phone game called “The River Of Hope”, has made it to Round 3 of the competition. The Round 3 results are due on May 23, as per the Imagine Cup website.
I have participated alone, although the competition allows for a team of up to four students. Round 1 is the storyboard round, wherein the game idea has to be submitted. Round 2 is the prototype round, where a working game prototype has to be submitted. A complete, polished game is expected in Round 3 – the world finals qualifying round.
My biggest challenge during development was time management. I had to make all the art assets, code the game, get it playtested, and balance it well within the round deadlines.
This is the trailer video I made for Round 2:
I have balanced the game, improved the UI, added cutscenes, audio and more gameplay levels for Round 3. I’m waiting for the result, and hoping for the best.
